Ms. Carmen Liu

Ms. Liu has over 15 years of clinical experience in psychological assessment and treatment for psychological issues and mental disorders of children, adolescents, and adults. She is especially experienced in providing psychological treatment to people with cancer and chronic illness to help them face their emotional distress and adjustment difficulties. She has worked at Hospital Authority, serving patients in Queen Mary Hospital, Tung Wah Hospital and United Christian Hospital before starting her private practice, Healing Journey Psychological Services, in 2019. Besides Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Ms. Liu also applies Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness in her psychotherapy to strengthen the resilience of people with emotional distress and to help them regain a meaningful life. 

 Moreover, Ms. Liu has a strong interest in the mental health of infants. She is professionally trained as a certified facilitator of the US Circle of Security Parenting Program (COSP). The COSP treatment group helps parents respond to their children’s emotional needs effectively and to help children establish sense of security and self-esteem. 

 Beyond clinical services, Ms. Liu values the duties of clinical supervision and training, with the aim to enhance knowledge of psychology through teaching. She has supervised clinical psychology trainees from the University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong in their clinical practicum.  Ms. Liu is keen to promote mental health to the public. She has been interviewed by various social media platforms. She also publishes articles in paper magazines and online platforms to promote mental health and psychological well being in the community.
