Specific Learning Difficulties in Reading and Writing (SpLD)Screening Assessment
Dyslexia can first be formally diagnosed in primary one. You may request the school to arrange an assessment with our referral, or arrange further evaluation at our centre.
Target:: Preschool children suspected of having dyslexia (preschool children from 4 years and 3 months to 6 years and 5 months or studying in K2 or above)
Main assessment tool:
- 1. Clinical observation
- Standardized questionnaires and related assessment tools (such as the Hong Kong Dyslexia Early Screening Scale [HKDESS])
Conductor: Education Psychologist / Clinical Psychologist
Service Detail:
- Pre-assessment Interview with parents/ teachers (~45 mins)
- Professional Assessment
- Post-assessment feedback session to explain the findings and consultation (~45 mins)
- Report summary or full psychological report
- Referral letter to the primary school for further assessment (if necessary)
If the psychologist thinks that an intelligence test is needed, he/she will discuss with the parents about conducting "Comprehensive Assessment for Pre-school Children".
